Hand Embroidery Basics



Interested in learning the basics about hand embroidery? Grab a wooden hoop and some pearl cotton; let’s get stitchin’. You’ll learn basic stitches that you can build upon as your skill level increases.

 

Hand Embroidery Supply List

 

-One wooden embroidery hoop (ideal size is 6 or 7”)

 

-chenille or tapestry needles size 22-24

 

-scrap of fabric large enough to fit inside wooden hoop

 

-spool of pearl cotton thread (any color)

 

-scissors

 

-ballpoint pen

 

 

 

Optional: six strand embroidery floss

Skill Details:
Requirements: To get the most out of your class experience, be sure to have your supplies and preparation before the class starts. Many classes that require groundwork will have a supply list that will be available online or in our shop at least two weeks prior to your class. In addition, your instructor will email you a week in advance on preparation expectations. Please trace garment patterns and have your fabric pre-washed for garments prior to class. If you need help with sizing and/or layout then schedule a time with us or come during our sewing studio.
