FOR ANYONE NEW TO SEWING:

SEWING MACHINE FUNDAMENTALS

Bring that sewing machine you haven’t taken out of the box or is collecting dust to our crash course on: what’s a presser foot, where’s the tension, do you feed the feed dogs and more.  You will go home with a simple stash bag made while building skills! $35 includes all supplies, (Fran Kertesz) Monday, June 28, 6 -9 pm

BASIC SEWING 101

This 6 week class takes you from planning your project and getting a pattern or measurements to cutting and sewing. Projects can include garments for yourself or child, curtains, duvet covers, pillows, purses and more.  Many techniques and ideas will be highlighted as each class member works on a project of their choice.   You may also choose to bring in garments to be altered.  6 weeks  $85. Monday, May 3 – June 21 , 6 – 8:30 pm, (No classes May24 or 31) Project supplies will be chosen first class and are not included in fee.

BASIC SEWING 201  (Intermediate sewing)

For students who have completed Basic Sewing 101 or have experience sewing.   Expand your sewing skills.  Try a technique you are afraid to tackle on your own.  With more than 35 years sewing experience including custom sewing and alterations,  Fran can help you tackle the tough patterns and create a custom made look.  $85 Thursday, April 29 – June 17, 6 – 8:30 pm (no classes May20 or 27).

BASIC SEWING LITE – all Basic Sewing Lite classes are $20 – additional supplies needed

SIMPLE SLEEVED SHAWL – This contemporary cardigan wrap is flattering to all figures.  Simple four piece pattern in two lengths is suitable for any fabric with drape.  Sheers and rayon batiks are great choices and give just that little extra to keep the chill off.  Wednesday, April 21, 12 – 4 pm.  (Barbara Whitfield)

COSMETIC BAG -  Need a quick little gift for graduation or birthdays.  You will want to make several of this great little basg.  Want to give a bigger gift?  Stuff it with essentials or whimsicals.  April 30,  9 am – noon (Andrea Anderson)

ROW QUILT - Use the flip and sew method to sew and quilt all at once.  Use a 4 thread serger or your sewing machine.  Some precutting required for this class.  Saturday, June 19, 12 – 4 pm.

A-LINE SKIRT FOR ADULTS Make this skirt once and you can make it again in 30 minutes. A Great addition to your spring and summer wardrobe.  Choose either elastic waist or invisible zipper.  Saturday,  May 1, 12 – 3 pm.  (Fran Kertesz)  Kwik sew pattern and material required.

SPICE UP YOUR STYLE – Presented by Lindsey

Join Lindsey once a month for these demonstration classes of techniques to add your special style to your wardrobe and accessories.  $10 fee includes hand outs to take and make the ideas your own.  All classes are Friday, 1 – 2 pm
March 19 – Make-It-Your-Way Appliqué.  See where to get inspiration for appliqués and how to add them to garments and accessories.
April 16 – Spice up your home.  Add pizzazz to Pillows with big piping, flange, yo-yo’s, buttons and more.

SERGER BASICS


Learn the secrets of threading and rethreading, how you sew differently with a serger and make the most of the differential feed and rolled edge.

QUILTING

PAPER PIECING BLOCK OF THE MONTH

Join Andrea to learn to make a paper pieced block each month.  This will be a lecture/demo of how to piece the block together.  For this BOM you choose your own fabrics.  You need not be present to pick up the paper foundations.  Cost includes the paper foundations to make one 12” block.  Third Tuesday at 10:00 am & second Saturday at 10:15 each month.  $7. Each time, present or not.

Beginning Quilting:  YELLOW BRICK ROAD –

Choose a theme for your quilt by color or purpose (baby, boy, girl, etc.)  and let us help you choose the fabrics before the first class.  Andrea will then guide you through cutting, piecing, binding and quilting a lap size quilt.  All you need from beginning to completion.  4 classes,.  $55 additional supplies needed. ($75 if fabrics not purchased at Fran’s Sewing Circle.) Tuesday, May 25 – June 15,  6 – 8:30 pm (Andrea Anderson)

SNOWMEN, SOUPS, SALADS, AND STEWS.

Each months snowman will be “dressed “ for the month.  Class will have soup, stew or salad depending on the weather outside!  You do not have to attend all 12 months we will have this class. Join the fun the months you can make it.  Second Wednesday of each month, 6 – 9 pm. $25 includes the main dish and fabric pieces for that month’s snowman, you supply snowman, block base fabric and fusible of your choice. TURNING 20 SLAPPLIQUE

The easy cutting and piecing of a turning 20’s quilt, combines with fast appliqué to make this doggie with bandana quilt that is great for any dog lover.  2 sessions, March 23 and 30, 9 am – noon 

HYDRANGEA QUILT.

This striking large bed quilt is made with Northcott’s new fabrics and welcomes spring with it’s fresh bright pallet.  Easy piecing techniques make this quilt beginner friendly and the quilt will be completed in class.    4 sessions March 17 – April 7, 1 – 3:30 pm.  $50,  Pattern included in class, materials needed.  (Anne Watson)

Hand Quilting

Learn Basic quilting stitches on a sampler piece.  You will work with a 18 x 22 inch piece which you can keep as a practice or make into a cabinet topper.  Saturday April 24, 10 am – Noon.  $15,   Materials Needed: 2 fat quarters, metal thimble, 14 – 18” wooden hoop, thread.  (Mary Ann Contri)

Poppies in Bloom

Use Triangulations for easy, perfect half square triangles and add a fun twist with poppies breaking over the borders.  2 sessions,  April 29 and May 6, 9 am  - Noon. $45  additional supplies needed.  (Mary Ann Contri) 

DAY AND NIGHT QUILT

The magical technique used in this class creates a quilt that looks like it could be only done by paper piecing, but you start with strip quilting!  2 sessions May 7 and 14, 10 am – Noon, or May 11 and 18, 6:30 – 8:30 pm (Andrea Anderson)  Book and fabric purchase required. $30

TEA TIME WITH THE STARS

This beautiful soft blue and white quilt designed by Anne highlights the tea cups in this Lakehouse fabric.  May 26 + June 2, 9:30 am – noon, or May 15, 10 am – 3 pm  (Anne Watson)  $38, materials needed.

QUILT TECHNIQUES – 1” binding. 

Join Andrea for a demonstration of how to add this dramatic larger binding.  Especially good for quilts with no borders. Friday,   June 4, 10 – 11 am (Andrea Anderson)  $10

FIRE ESCAPE

ZIPPY CONVERTIBLE PURSE

Love to have different purses, but hate to change over all your stuff?  This purse pattern has a Velcro in liner so the whole inside can go into a new bag.  Have a bag for each season or each mood, or each outfit!  2 sessions, June 9 + 16, 10 am – 12:30 pm.  (Karen Widmeyer) $45.   Pattern and material needed.  Some precutting before first class is required.

EMBROIDERY - 

Dresden Plate by Embroidery

Use your embroidery machine to quilt!   This class is open to all embroidery machine owners.  Make this fun quilt with your embroidery machine and get perfect squares every time.  Once embroidery is done,  your quilt is almost made.  2 sessions, three weeks apart.   You must pre enroll and make arrangements with Fran to have the designs ready for you embroidery machine.  We have embroidery machines for use in class if you do not currently own an embroidery machine but would like to try this technique.  Monday, March 22  and April 12.  $30 plus pattern and supplies.

SMOCKING AND HEIRLOOM

BASIC SMOCKING - BISHOP

Begin with a dress that has been cut out and pleated for you and learn the technique of smocking on a curve.  The last class will be completing construction of the dress. $65 includes the preparation of the dress.  Participants are required to purchase fabric at least one week before class so fabric can be prepared.   4 sessions, Monday, January 18 – February 8, 6:30 – 8:30 pm.(Sharon Tartt)

3D/4D  PRO SOFTWARE
Linda Stanley offers a  professional software class on the third Thursday of each month 9:30 am 11:30 am.  These classes are good for anyone even new owners of the 3D/4D Professional system software. $15  YOU MUST PREREGISTER WITH Fran’s Sewing Circle or Linda Stanley

4D ORGANIZER AND QUICK FONTS.
If you have any of the Husqvarna Viking Designer embroidery machines, you received this amazing little program with it.  Learn what it does and more on how to get new designs to your embroidery machine. Friday, April 23, 10 am - noon 4D
MONOGRAM WIZARDLinda will take you through several exercises to familiarize you with some of the many easy steps to making a great monogram.   $20.  This class is free if you purchased 4DMonogram Wizard from Sewing Circle.  Friday, June 18, 10 am - noon
